At Bridge & Barn we have developed an understanding of how nature has been designed to function and the importance of having a living, healthy soil. In the context of managing the family farm in Northern Ireland, it has led us to adopt regenerative farming practices.
What is Regenerative Farming?
Regenerative farming actively works on building healthy soils and ecosystems to improve long-term agricultural productivity and environmental resilience. It involves practices such as minimizing soil disturbance, integrating livestock, increasing biodiversity, and maintaining soil cover and keeping living roots in the soil. It emphasizes natural processes and reduces reliance on synthetic inputs that can harm soil and water. It works in conjunction with nature’s design rather than against it.
“Farming in synchrony with nature to repair, rebuild, revitalise and restore ecosystem function starting with life within the soil and expanding to life above.” – Dr Allen Williams
Its Effect on Beef Quality
Research has shown that grass-fed beef is lower in saturated fat and higher in omega-3 fatty acids and certain vitamins as compared to conventional grain-fed beef; making grass-fed beef a healthier option. Environmentally, our customers will know that what they are purchasing is having a positive impact on the environment.
